Getman Sweeney is NOT currently hiring, though we always accept resumes from attorneys and people interested in paralegal positions with the firm. The firm represents employees only, primarily in overtime pay, minimum wage, and other wage violation cases. We handle individual, class and collective actions throughout the U.S. Most of our litigation is in federal court. We regularly sue multi-national and Fortune 500 companies, as well as smaller companies and governments. We accept all litigation on a contingency basis. We also advance all costs. This enables us to represent a sizable low and middle income population. The firm is proud to handle many cases for undocumented and documented immigrants. An attorney with the firm needs to have a strong commitment to righting wrongs, strong interpersonal skills with diverse clients, an interest in both high and low stakes litigation, a tolerance for inevitable conflict with opposing counsel and an ability to navigate complex litigation procedure. The position will include salary, benefits and commission depending on experience. (People interested primarily in the money should go work for a management-side firm.) The firm thrives on an extremely collegial, team based litigation approach. We are five attorneys and five paralegals working out of a circa 1790 Dutch stone house in New Paltz, NY, a small but diverse community set on the side of the Shawangunk Ridge of the Appalachian Mountains. New Paltz is adjacent to thousands of acres of premier nature preserves and state parks offering some of the best hiking, rock climbing, swimming, kayaking and other outdoor activities on the East Coast. We are a 10 minute drive to the Hudson River. SUNY New Paltz adds all the advantages of a college town. The firm is also an hour and a half from New York City and Albany.
